Whether you’re making your own pizza dough, grabbing a store-bought one, or going for a quick naan version — these three ideas will totally level up your pizza nights, promise!
Ingredients
Homemade or store-bought pizza dough
- Orange Tomato Margherita Pizza
4 cups orange cherry tomatoes (about 400g)
½ yellow onion, chopped
½ tsp salt
3 tbsp olive oil
1 bulb of garlic
A few slices of bocconcini or 1 ball of fresh mozzarella (226g), sliced
Fresh basil leaves
- Sausage & Kale Pizza
2 tbsp olive oil
2–3 mild or spicy Italian sausages
3 handfuls chopped kale
1½ cups shredded mozzarella
¾ cup homemade or store-bought tomato sauce
Chili flakes (optional)
- Ricotta, Zucchini & Corn Pizza
1 container ricotta (280g)
½ cup grated Parmesan
1 small green zucchini, thinly sliced
1–2 corn cobs, kernels only
To serve: Hot honey, chili oil or hot sauce
Instructions
- Orange Tomato Margherita Pizza
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- In a baking dish, combine the cherry tomatoes and chopped onion. Add salt and olive oil, toss to coat.
- Slice off the top of the garlic bulb (keep the peel on), drizzle with a bit of olive oil, wrap in foil and add it to the dish.
- Roast everything for 35 to 40 minutes, until the tomatoes are soft and caramelized.
- Let cool slightly. Squeeze the roasted garlic out of the bulb.
- Transfer the tomatoes, onion and garlic flesh to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Let the sauce cool and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
- Spread the sauce over your pizza dough, top with mozzarella slices.
- Bake the pizza using your preferred method (see below), then finish with fresh basil leaves.
- Sausage & Kale Pizza
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the sausage meat in olive oil for about 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped kale and cook for another 2–3 minutes, until wilted.Let cool.
- Assemble the pizza with tomato sauce, a bit of mozzarella, and the sausage-kale mix.
- Bake using your preferred method (see below). Top with chili flakes if desired.
- Ricotta, Zucchini & Corn Pizza
- Season the ricotta well and mix.
- Spread a thin layer of ricotta on your pizza dough. Add a bit of grated Parmesan.
- Top with zucchini slices and corn kernels.
- Bake using your preferred method (see below).
- Finish with a drizzle of spicy honey, chili oil or hot sauce before serving.
- COOKING
- Pizza oven: Preheat your pizza oven to maximum heat, then slightly reduce. Using a well-floured pizza peel, slide the pizza in with a quick motion. Bake for about 15–20 seconds, then rotate using the peel.Keep turning until the crust is golden on all sides. Total cooking time: about 1½ to 2 minutes.
- Conventional oven: Place a pizza stone or steel on the middle rack. Preheat to 500°F for 30 minutes. Bake the pizza for 5–10 minutes until the crust is golden and crisp. Finish under the broiler if needed.
- BBQ: Place a pizza stone or steel on the grill and preheat to high heat (500°F–550°F) for at least 30 minutes.Slide the pizza onto the hot surface, close the lid, and cook for 5–10 minutes, keeping a close eye on it.
